The Complete Guide to IndexGPT Installation

Getting your Shopify store ready for the AI era doesn't have to be complicated. IndexGPT is designed to be a "set it and forget it" solution that works in the background to keep your store visible to AI agents. Here is how to get started.

Prerequisites

Before you begin, ensure you have:

• An active Shopify store.
• Admin access to your Shopify dashboard.
• 5 minutes of your time.

Step 1: Install the App

Navigate to the Shopify App Store and search for "IndexGPT". Click the "Install" button. You will be redirected to your Shopify admin panel to approve the necessary permissions.

We ask to read your products and legal policies (to build your llms.txt file and analyse your store) and to write content (so the content tools can publish to your store). Some tools ask for extra access, such as your theme, only when you turn them on. We never access customer data such as names, emails or orders.

Step 2: Choose Your Plan

Pick the plan that fits your store. Essentials and Premium start with a 3-day free trial, so you won't be charged if you cancel before it ends. Enterprise adds a dedicated account manager and unlimited credits, and is billed monthly with no trial. See Pricing for the full comparison.

Step 3: Get Your AI SEO Score

On the Dashboard, calculate your AI SEO Score. You'll get a personalised Action Plan with the tasks that will make the biggest difference for your store. Work through them at your own pace.

Step 4: Activate the Core Tools

Open Tools and turn on the three "set & forget" tools. Once active, they run automatically in the background:

1. Instant Indexing: tells search engines like Bing (which powers ChatGPT's live results) the moment your store updates.
2. LLMs.txt: tells ChatGPT, Claude and other AI agents what's in your store and how to recommend you.
3. Brand Signals: regularly communicates your brand to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude and other major AI platforms.

While you're there, run a Robots.txt Analysis to confirm AI crawlers like GPTBot and ClaudeBot can access your content.

Step 5: Track Your Results

Connect your Google Analytics account on the Monitor page to see the traffic AI assistants send to your store. On Premium and Enterprise, set up Prompt Tracking to test whether ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude mention your store when customers search your niche.

Verify It's Working

• Visit yourstore.com/llms.txt to see your generated file.
• Check your Instant Indexing submissions in Bing Webmaster Tools.
• Find your Brand Signals activity under "Recent Outreach Messages" on its page.

Troubleshooting

If you don't see your llms.txt file, check that your theme doesn't have a custom robots.txt that is blocking our app. If problems persist, contact us from the Support page in the app or through our contact page. We answer every email within 24 hours.
